We take our responsibilities as providers of regulated First Aid training courses very seriously, and the over-riding consideration at all times is the health and safety of all participants on our courses. The current Covid-19 Pandemic presents the training sector with a number of challenges. At all time we undertake to comply in every respect with the guidelines and legislation issued by the Health and Safety Executive, Public Health England, the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum and First Aid Quality Partnership.
All of the guidance provided by the above organisations and bodies is subject to change as the country deals with the pandemic and informed by the prevailing Covid Alert Level.
We undertake to comply with the required Social Distancing guidance whilst it is in force. It is recognized that Government guidance requires social distancing to be maintained ‘where it is possible’, acknowledging that it is not possible for all people all of the time.
The authorities and bodies above make no provision for the learning and assessment of competence on First Aid courses to relax the stringent criteria. Therefore regulated First Aid courses must include demonstration of some skills on real life persons which involves close personal contact. Fulfilling the assessment criteria in this way is mandatory on First Aid courses. This is no different to the many workers in different sectors whose daily work does not allow full compliance with social distancing. In those cases and in First Aid training courses, additional mitigation measures can be implemented to minimize the possibility of cross infection.
These measures on our courses include the provision of an individual resuscitation manikin for each course candidate so that no sharing is required, provision of face shields, face masks and appropriate sanitizing preparations. All equipment used on courses is diligently and thoroughly cleaned and quarantined between courses.
Lancashire First Aid Training Ltd undertake full Risk Assessment procedures for every venue, taking account of all relevant factors. We also undertake a risk declaration with every candidate before they are permitted entry to the training.
